Recording In The City with Chris
Watson
World-renowned natural sound recorder, and ex-member
of Cabaret Voltaire, Chris Watson leads a workshop devoted
to sound recording in the city. On the Sunday night
Chris will lead a late-night recording session, gathering
sounds for use in the workshop. Following a morning
presentation and then lunch, Chris will run through
techniques before giving a critique of the field recordings
supplied by the workshop attendees. Includes lunch,
a copy of the edits on CD/DVD and the sunday evening
session led by Chris. £40 (£45 includes
Monday evening performance / £30 Students &
Museum Friends (£35 includes Monday evening performance).

LEAFCUTTER JOHN
PETER CUSACK (recording only)
Two acclaimed artists demonstrate their take on field
recording. John Burton (aka Leafcutter) will be using
the Museum's collection as inspiration, whilst Peter
Cusack, in the spirit of the daytime workshop, has curated
a CD devoted to 'Your Favourite London Sounds'. Please
note Peter will not be here in person but one of his
works will be premiered. £8

Two special performances. Norwegian Geir Jennsen (aka
Biosphere) is one of the most famous ambient composers
in the world, specialising in the use of field recordings
in his multi-layered work. Chris Watson and the Swedish
artist Benny Nilsen here present their groundbreaking
STORM project in 5.1 Surround Sound. This work follows
a storm across the North Sea, Chris recording from the
North East of England, and Benny from Scandinavia. £12

Robin Rimbaud (aka Scanner) is one of the world's foremost
sound artists, and is commissioned worldwide to provide
installation pieces and dance works. For this rare London
LIVE performance, Robin has created a site-specific
work drawing on items from the Museum's collection.
